InHealth Radiographer Reporting hosts successful Study Evening at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospital.
Over one hundred people gathered at Guy’s Hospital at the end of January for the InHealth Radiographer Reporting Study Evening event, to hear presentations (see below) from a number of industry experts.
Sue Johnson, Professional Officer from the Society of Radiographers opened the event with a report on the Scope of Practice survey. Alice Turner, Advisor for Diagnostic Imaging at the University of Keele delivered a presentation entitled “Toolkit on Implementing Radiographer Reporting” and Professor Paul McCrone, Professor of Health Economics at Kings College talked about research into the cost effectiveness of radiographer reporting of chest x-rays. A lively panel discussion also explored why there is still resistance for radiographer reporting given the mounting research and evidence available.
The evening was chaired by the very knowledgeable Nick Woznitza, Clinical Academic Reporting Radiographer, and was concluded by Professor Nigel Thomas, who has spent the past 25 years supporting the development of reporting radiographers. Professor Thomas challenged attendees to think about the past, present and future of radiographer reporting.

People were present from as far afield as Zimbabwe and Norway, as well as closer to home - including Wolverhampton, Liverpool, Kent and from within Guy’s and St Thomas’ Trust. The audience ranged from Consultant Radiographers and Radiologists right through to first year students. This clearly demonstrates the breadth of interest in radiographer reporting. The common theme was a passion for delivering better patient care and faster diagnosis. This was a very enjoyable and thought provoking event and I look forward to running many more, similar events in the future.”
