Our Clinical Team

The mobile PET/CT scanners are staffed by a team of Radiographers, Nuclear Medicine Technologists and Radiographic Assistants.

Our senior Radiographers/Nuclear Medicine Technologists are some of the most experienced PET/CT staff in the country.  All senior staff have at least two years’ experience in PET/CT. They all have Post Graduate qualifications in nuclear medicine. Our junior staff have joined us from the USA, Canada and Poland as CT Radiographers.

We have trained them in PET by sending them on a specially commissioned Post Graduate PET/CT course at Salford University. They have all attended the College of Radiographers IV course. They have then had a portfolio led in-house training scheme with extra elements such as FDG dispensing and radiation protection. They all have static and mobile PET/CT experience.

All our staff are competency assessed using a PET/CT assessment tool approved by the Department of Health. All of our Radiographers are HPC registered and our Nuclear Medicine Technologists are on the IPEM Voluntary Register of Clinical Technologists .

Reporters
All of our experienced PET/CT reporters are local to the area wherever possible. If the relevant Trust cannot provide experienced reporters then remote UK reporters will be used, usually from the same SHA.

Medical Physics Experts and Radiation Protection Advisor
The PET/CT service is supported by physicists who provide advice on radiation protection and the technical aspects of the units.

Radiographic Assistants
Radiographic Assistants will help with patients on the scanner. They will enhance patient care by assisting the Radiographers and Nuclear Medicine Technologists.
